Ian (Skip)
Real Name: Ian
Scouting Name: Skip
A bit about myself: My name is Ian Machin, I am an ex-army lad. I didnt serve long but it was long enough to learn a thing or two. The army was a big thing of my life, it changed me in alot of way. From disciplining me to making me fit.
I also have a diploma in ICT so yes i am kind of a computer geek, not so much in the hacking world etc but i do like to play my PC games and i know how to do a bit with computers.
I work at JCB currently and have done for a few years, JCB has given me my "handyman" and "builiding" skills. I never really used tools before i joined JCB now i build diggers so im not doing too bad...
Ive always been a family boy "the baby" as im known by in my family. So i have decided to start my own family and hope my kids are as happy and live such an adventurous life as i have.
Alot with all this, Scouting is 1/2 of my life. I was born into the whole thing. More or less when i was born my brother was in cubs etc and my mum "our GSL" was a helper at his pack. Then i of course liked what i saw when going out to my brothers meetings and camps etc and was given the choice to join either a Karate Club, or Beavers. As shocking as it may be... I prefered watching power rangers and learning to fight off that than pay...
So yes i joined beavers, moved up to cubs, went to scouts, joined explorers, went the army for a bit, came out joined as a helper, turned into an assistant cub leader, And now im a Scout leader running my own Troop at 5th City Normacot, and there is nowhere else i would rather be.
My hobbies: My hobbies are, Anything to do with the outdoors.
- Canoeing,
- Rock Climbing,
- Caving,
- Hiking,
- Mountaineering,
- Camping,
- Skooba Diving.
My interests: What Interests me? Well... Everything.. Im like a magpie, if its shiny i like it.
Seriously.. I like to go for nice walks, lie in the sand on the beach, make sand castles, splash around in water, taking photo's, watching the sun set and rise.
